✨ Devotional: Jesus Is God — Who He Is and Why He Came
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.”
— John 1:1, 14 (NIV)
🔍 Who Is Jesus?
Many see Jesus as a great teacher, prophet, or healer. But Scripture boldly declares that Jesus is God Himself, clothed in human flesh.
-
John 10:30 – “I and the Father are one.”
-
Colossians 2:9 – “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.”
He wasn’t merely sent by God — He is God. He didn’t come into existence at birth — He existed before time began (John 17:5). Jesus is the eternal Word, the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15).
❤️ Why Did Jesus Come?
Though fully God, Jesus chose to enter a broken world to fulfill the greatest mission of love:
“Christ Jesus… being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage… he humbled himself… to death on a cross.”
— Philippians 2:6–8
He came:
-
To reveal God’s character — love, truth, and holiness.
-
To save sinners — “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).
-
To restore relationship — so we could know God personally and eternally.
🕊️ What Does This Mean for Me?
If Jesus is God, then:
-
His words carry ultimate authority.
-
His death has infinite value to cover all sin.
-
His resurrection proves He holds power over life and death.
-
His invitation to follow Him is not just from a teacher… but from the Creator of the universe.
Knowing who Jesus is transforms everything. He is not just a part of our lives — He is life itself.
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
— John 14:6
🙏 Prayer
“Lord Jesus, I believe You are God. You are not just a story or symbol — You are the living God who entered this world to rescue me. Help me know You more, trust You fully, and follow You faithfully. Be the center of my life. Amen.”
